Lenz, who is from Mount Pillar, Indiana came to Crested Butte Academy to possible further his career in running at the next level. Adam had showed up with a couple of minor set backs with shin issues on his arrival to Colorado. With Adam's workethic and drive ran himself into almost a near full scholarship to Mississippi State University and became a 2007 High School All-American in the process.
"Before the Great American Invite, he was just a runner trying for a scholarship," Sanderson said. "After his finish, he has a lot of schools interested in him. He is just a great kid, really down to earth. He has really blossomed this season as runner.

Lenz, 18, competes for Crested Butte Academy, but the school is not a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association. However, he has made his presence known nationally recently, finishing among the top five runners at two prestigious meets.
Lenz, a senior, finished third in the 5-kilometer Nike Race of Champions on Sept. 23 in Birmingham, Ala., with a time of 15 minutes, 56 seconds. Runners from 38 states were present and more than 6,000 prep runners competed.
On Saturday, Lenz finished fourth in his race over the 2.5-mile Van Cortlandt Park course in the Manhattan (N.Y.) Invitational and fifth overall with a time of 12:26.2 when the boys times were merged. It was the fastest time for a Colorado runner during the 33 years of the meet. The effort earned Lenz a spot in the meet's all-time top 30 list.
Because of his outstanding finishes, Lenz has garnered the attention of the Division I colleges. Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Kentucky and the Colorado School of Mines are at the top of his list.
Lenz, who is from Mount Pillar, Ind., has competed in two Colorado high school meets - the Delta and Lake County invitationals, winning both. He is coached by Trent Sanderson, who coached at Glenwood Springs and the University of Maryland before taking the job at Crested Butte Academy.
"Before the Great American Invite, he was just a runner trying for a scholarship," Sanderson said. "After his finish, he has a lot of schools interested in him. He is just a great kid, really down to earth. He has really blossomed this season as runner.
